Blending art and community: the story of Scoiattolo’s values

It is by the artist Sea, a famous street artist in Milan and Varese founder of the SeaCreative project, the work of art designed and created to tell his own story within the walls of the Scoiattolo company, carried out together with the children of the "Il Pezzettino" community home for minors, a Varese reality with which Scoiattolo has had a relationship of affection, care and support for many years.

The young people first met the artist and took part in two days of workshops in the community to bring them closer to the project; they then proceeded to create the permanent work on the walls of the Scoiattolo company, flanked by the artist.

A piece of paper with the company's first logo flies away from a little girl's hand, while a Scoiattolo-shaped origami finds a safe place in the hands of a male figure. All around there are ears of grain and ravioli. "The mural was strongly desired by our family to create a window on art. Openness to ‘beauty’ is the engine of enthusiasm and the desire to grow", says Matteo Di Caro, part of the Scoiattolo ownership.

The design, in fact, is an integral part of a process of dynamism, curiosity and colour that the company wants to bring outside and inside its walls. The mural was painted on the connecting stairway between offices and production departments so that everyone can breathe in its beauty and liveliness.

The design poetically depicts the present and past of the brand: the male character holds in his hands an origami in the shape of a Squirrel, signifying the planning, presence and objectives that characterise the company's philosophy. On the staircase is the female character, a little girl, from whose hand a sheet of paper with the company's first logo flies. A memory of the little girls who, with their family, 40 years ago, gave life to a new adventure. The ears of grain and ravioli, in addition to the current brand, represent the present of the company and its productions.

The murals also symbolically kick-start a new course for the company. At the end of the year, in fact, the building site will be inaugurated for the new plant: a project adjacent to the current structure to support the continuous expansion of the pasta factory. New spaces in which to give continuity and enhance ‘Scoiattolo’s values’: for brand recognition and credibility that starts from home.

Productive environments and engaging spaces to “Experience Scoiattolo”, nourished by everyday dynamism and emotions. It is a story blending the past and the future that the Belletti – Di Caro – Guerra families, owners for 3 generations of the Scoiattolo ravioli factory, sought to represent through a mural that took shape at the beginning of October on the occasion of the important renovation of the production lines and offices.
