Collaborations

Scoiattolo partners with the Varese School Cup: sport and nutrition to help children learn to enjoy food!

Not just a sponsor, but an active participant in a project that brings together sport, education and wellbeing: Scoiattolo has devised and organised a special session on healthy eating for 16–18-year-olds, in collaboration with nutritionist and biologist Luca Macchi, for students at the schools taking part in the Varese School Cup project.

A session on how to nourish body and mind

Sport is energy, passion and commitment. But it is also about awareness and self-care. That is why we have chosen to support the Varese School Cup not only as a sponsor, but as promoters of an educational initiative dedicated to healthy eating.

The Varese School Cup is one of the most prestigious school basketball tournaments in the region: it involves upper secondary schools – and recently also some lower secondary schools – in the province of Varese. Created to bring sport and school together, the project brings together dozens of schools and hundreds of students who not only compete on the basketball court, but also engage in positive support initiatives, marketing and communication activities, thereby promoting inclusion, teamwork and healthy lifestyles. Organised by Il Basket Siamo Noi of Pallacanestro Varese, it is now one of the most significant youth sports initiatives in the province.

In this context, Scoiattolo sought to make a tangible contribution by organising a meeting for young people aged between 16 and 18, featuring nutritionist and biologist Luca Macchi. It was a moment of open and engaging dialogue, designed to convey a clear message: adopting a healthy lifestyle does not mean “going on a diet”, but learning to nourish one’s body correctly and consciously, knowing everything it needs to perform its functions.

During the session, topics covered included calorie requirements in relation to age and sporting activity, the food pyramid, and the balance between macro- and micronutrients, which are essential not only for physical performance but also for concentration and mental wellbeing. The importance of nutrition before, during and after a match was explored in depth, along with practical guidance on how to create a comprehensive and balanced weekly nutrition plan, tailored to the type of sport practised and its intensity.

Thanks also to practical exercises, the young people were able to put themselves to the test first-hand, learning to plan a balanced diet independently. A hands-on experience designed to make them more aware and responsible in managing their own diet, both on and off the pitch.

Scoiattolo believes that supporting initiatives such as the Varese School Cup means investing in the future of our region and the adults of tomorrow. Sport, education and wellbeing are values we hold dear and wish to continue promoting, together with those who share these values, both on and off the pitch.
